Tim's Review of Genesis Season 4 Premier

Andrew Briggs def. Zack Cage - Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven
In a relatively short but technical match, Andrew Briggs would defeat Zack Cage. The only reason this match was saved from a 1 star rating was simply the reversal fest (1999, Maurie) mid match. Zack Cage was able to hit his Go-To-Sleep/Shining Wizard Combo, but even that wasn't enough to defeat the former Light Heavyweight Champion in Andrew Briggs. Briggs would hit his Shining Wizard and then close the match with a Spinal Tap, securing his place in the International Championship Triple Threat in the Main Event

Kenji Murakami def. Shiloh Gray - Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven

Shades of their first encounter, Gray and Murakami have excellent chemistry and it showed in this particular performance. With only a taste of their mat classic from Exodus 2018 (Day One) the match started very even and Isiah Key, who was in Shiloh's corner, did not interfere, maintaining Gray baby face stature even being in tag team with Key. However, early in the match, Jon Reed came from the back to "attempt" to distract Shiloh in their upcoming rivalry. Despite this, Shiloh would hit Cass Blast and Gray Matter to no avail and with the combination of the Warrior Code and Kenji's signature earlier in the match, this would be enough to defeat Shiloh. In terms of match analysis, it can be assumed the break between Kenji's signature and finisher, and the damage down between with normal moves; the combined effect was another finisher's damage amount. Additionally, Kenji's win would put him as the number 2 man in the International Championship Triple Threat scheduled for the main event.

Randy Borton def. Bob Storm - Like a Star @ heaven

No one enjoys a squash, even if it's from our favorite Milkmaniac, Randy Borton. And this is what this was. Despite a small dollop of offense from Bob. Things would make an instantaneous turn when Borton would hit Bob with his Moo Thunderbomb and Borto-End immeidietly following. Securing the third and final spot of the International Championship.

Furious Frank def. Tim LaFave (c) & Bob Luger - Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven

In a spectacle, Furious Frank would pin the Alpha World Champion. But the heart of Tim would show regardless and it would take several signatures 2 Luger Landings and one final Tombstone Piledriver to put out the champion. Bob Luger suffered an LED Powerbomb while Frank and Bob would eat Tim's finishers at different intervals. Despite Frank picking up the win, the chemistry between all of these men showed in this match. The story telling was great (and not just because of the set up promo), how you might ask. Frank showed his trademark ferocity, LaFave showed his Against All Odds mentality by taking 2 finishers and several signatures and still kicking out and Bob Luger showed work ethic by putting his body on the line for the sake of the match and overall show. The match was the best of the night, bar none. Some of the more beautiful spots were the LED Powerbomb and Tim's (attempted) Moonsault on Furious Frank who was laying atop of Luger.

The Empire of Pain (c) def. Heaven or Hell - Like a Star @ heaven

In a match with not much in the way of technicality but more a show of Bison and Duo Maxwell's combined brutality, this match will go down as the "Tag Team Match of Finishers". Both teams got off their Tag Team finishers but it was the Empire of Pain that would display the need to win. Diablo would attempt to intervene multiple times in Angelico's massacre but to no avail. With a third Full Throttle, Bison and Duo would pick up the victory.

CMV Light Heavyweight Championship Match
Ryan Kent (c) def. Jeremy Blake -  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven

In a very back and forth match, Ryan Kent would pick up the win and defend his Light Heavyweight Championship for the 9th time in total. The re-returning Jeremy Blake would put it all on the line but unfortunately it was his inability (or unwillingness, depending on how you look at it) to hit his Top Rope Finisher that made him suffer in this match. After hitting one and gaining the upper hand on the Fire Starter, Blake refused to hit it again ultimately costing him the 'W'. That's not to say Blake went out after one hit. No, only after two Kent Clashes did Jeremy concede showing heart and determination. The two men had great chemistry and I'm sure everyone would love to see another go-around between these two competitors. The thing that put this match where it's at was Kent's cocky Heel performance. Top-notch.

Killjoy def. Bryce Hurt -  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven

Two debuting superstars showed us what they had. And while it's a good sample of the technical and brawling styles of both the match put on a better show than anyone thought it would. Killjoy hitting his finisher (End of Days) and Bryce locking in two Hurt Lockers was unfortunately not enough to submit the Crazed Clown Killjoy. After a third Snap DDT, his signature, Killjoy would pick up his first recorded CMV victory in a good start of his career. Bryce put in most of the high-flying work in this match as well as a majority of the technical make-up while Killjoy showed us his nasty brawling style.

King and Company def. Extreme Conditions -  Like a Star @ heaven

Lenny and Sal showed impeccable chemistry as did Matt and Eric. But ultimately it would be KaC's teamwork that would trounce (literally) on Extreme Conditions first chance to pick up a victory in the new season. Even while being able to hit their respective Tag Finishers, twice, EC would not secure that much needed win. And after one King's Stampede, Eric Thunder would suffer the pinfall for his team, despite being the MVP for his team in terms of performance.

CMV International Championship Match
Randy Borton def. Kenji Murakami and Andrew Briggs -  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven

In a technical master class, Borton would become the International Champion in his first reign. A wildly good back and forth triple threat, every man got offense in, hitting their finishers and signatures with the exception of Kenji who proved he didn't need to use his hard-hitting moves to show us what he can do. His moonsault over a grounded Borton on Andrew Briggs was most likely spot of the night. When all is said and done, Kenji was the show stopper for this match. Not taking away from Randall's first International Championship victory or Briggs' performance. But what a relief it was for all three of these men's borderline lack-luster matches at the beginning of the show to culminate into a Triple Threat spectacular at the end. Well done to everyone.

THE DIRT SHEET

1. After Hardline Oysters short falling out with CMV for not being able to get his copy of 2K17 on release and being called selfish for it, he did eventually get the game from his Aunt. It can be assumed the likes of Marcantel and Azreal will return as opposed to the initial thought that they would be done forever. Nobody leaves CMV though.

2. Killjoy's and KaC's debut was minorly panned by certain members of the site during the stream. Killjoy's attire more so while KaC's entrance and attire was not entirely smiled upon. Funny considering they both picked up the wins in their matches.

3. It's most likely that Kent will be replaced with Furious Frank after pinning Tim in the triple threat. Word on the street is the vote for the CMV Alpha Championship Match at Cyberslam will be...

"Who will take on Tim for the Alpha World Championship?"
>. Bob Luger
> Furious Frank (Previously Ryan Kent)
> #1 contender match for CMV Alpha Championship

We'll see when the CyberSlam card is posted though.

Sorry for the late review, I came in late for last nights show and had to go back and watch it on YouTube. I'd like to point out that my reviews for Genesis will never be biased and all views and opinions on the matches are purely that ... opinions. Pls don't PM me angrily because your match wasn't a solid 5 stars or your displeased with your 1 star rating. Bless.

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

~ Tim

Premiere*
Just thought I'd tell you instead of editing it as you get moody if I edit your posts.

But a good read nonetheless
