Trust is Beautiful. Do It More Often.
Matthew Justice scurries to the back holding his nearly asleep partner Dante Tatum who in very very quick fashion without even a tag being made by the victors, lost to Ace Reeves. Lipnick was there too but there was no tag, no action taken by Lipnick, this was pretty much a handicap match. Tatum mumbles some words to his spider-obsessed partner, perhaps questioning why he ran when Lipnick entered the ring before he could break up the pin.
Ace stands there looking kind of bewildered honestly. Not that he was ever SUPER short of confidence in himself but it’s been a rough time for him lately and this wasn’t just the win he needed, it was a statement victory that came a lot quicker than perhaps a lot expected. His tag partner isn’t exactly planning on letting Ace fully absorb it in silence.
Sarcastically wiping sweat off his forehead despite doing nothing and trying to catch his already there breath before getting into the ring, which catches Reeve’s attention. Then to add even more insult, he stumbles back into the ropes and shakes his head and throws sideways karate chops in the air, meaning cut for those unfamiliar with the movie business. Funny moment ruined when he looks over and yells angrily at the ring worker to get him a damn microphone.
John Lipnick:
That Matthew Justice bastard ran his way to the back after he saw me comin, y’all would say, inflates my ego that does but let me tell you the truth. Matthew Justice saw a successful man that was way outta his league and that man, that revived specimen, was ACE REEVES!
John steps off from the ropes and takes a step closer to Ace who isn’t really doing anything just yet, just lookin at him.
John Lipnick:
I told you so, week after week man, that this is where you belong! You belong with me, belong with someone that oversees all the ways this world works and can help you go against “them”. I was your only chance, I can only say that because I think our relationship deepened enough for it. I ain’t a man like the others, I’m so much more boy, I could be a savior to those bottom sinking depressive wasteaways in the back that haven’t done anything with their career in a while. I’m a kind man, I would do that but I'm not only a kind man, I’m a smart devil.
Smart enuf devil to see someone who needed help not from a bad streak, but no, someone that needed help from themselves. Needed someone on they side to tell em the truth, the truth that they are the most talented cool awesome fella on this roster, man! I assure you now ,god damn do I ASSURE YOU that MY Ace Reeves, well, he should have some gold that he never got the chance to earn fairly.
He’s not the kind of dog that’ll get the world title without pinning the champ and act like he deserved it, my Ace Reeves deserves stuff because of how great he is NOT how many times he lost in the past but was ALMOST THERE, ALMOST THERE. OH MR. LIPNICK HE WAS ALMOST THERE IM TELLIN YA! HE...WELL HE LOST TO MR. HOXTON ONE ON ONE IN A FAIR MATCH BUT HE WAS ALMOST THERE…
Well well well, Mr. Lipnick is gonna say something. If losing to the man you’re supposed to beat makes you almost there, then Ace Reeves is ALREADY THERE CAUSE HE NEVER HAD HIS ONE ON ONE FAIR CHANCE UNLIKE THE GUY THAT LOST HIS DUEL AGAINST THE CHAMP! Y’ALL MIGHTA MOVED ONTO THE NEXT THING, BUT THIS MAN AIN’T SOMEBODY YOU JUST FORGET I PROMISE YA!
Lipnick forms a smile that makes Ace do the same, because who doesn’t like a hype man? Shots thrown at Pierre Thompson, the man that has what Reeves wants, he’s working his silver-tongue to perfection right now.
John Lipnick:
I can tell you so much about my friend, Ace Reeves. But he already proved everything he had to prove just a few minutes ago. Look me in the eyes, buddy pal friend.
How much gold you want around yer waist?
How many bitches you want beggin at yer knees?
How many men do you want to never see again?
How much do you want to prove, even though I know you have nothin left to prove?
Between us, how much do you want them to bleed and replicate whatever deep fantasy you may have in your head? I can be the hitman and the cleaner to your grandfather if you want me to. End up and clean up the mess that they’ll become afterwards so you never have to deal with em again.
All of that, just through being friends. I’ll be the closest friend you ever had, a brother to you. But, one condition, one one condition. Trust me.
He begins stretching out his arm so the microphone can reach Ace Reeve’s lips, who even despite all the constant clear helping of Lipnick is hesitating. But Lipnick doesn’t move that microphone at all because of it, instead, he just keeps it steady right ahead of his face. His eyes unblinking, his expression the same. Reeves can have all the time he wants to say this, but there’s something that screams if he doesn’t say it, there’s going to be dire consequences.
Ace Reeves:
I trust you.
To the surprise of Reeves, whose small grin that was built up from all the bantering from Lipnick transformed into a lost expression, Lipnick quickly wrapped his arms around him in a close, personal embrace of a hug. The crowd doesn’t cheer nor boo, it just watches uncomfortably, unknown of what they really should be. But slowly, ever so slowly on the face of The Gravity Manipulator…
The biggest grin of all was born on his face.
