Hero's defeat

As Drake Sanchez had left the ring, El Jefe laid to waste on the ring mat. As Jefe lay in the middle of the ring, Ushio walked towards him, nodding his head. He grabbed a mic, while signifying to the girl that poster he ripped.
So this is your “hero”? The man who took the beating to men like Bryce Hurt? Please. This isn’t a hero. And he certainly ain’t YOUR hero. He’s a man in a mask wanting to do something good for this business and for himself. But let’s be honest, I’m not here to diss the lucha-lucha superhero you people adore…..
He knelt down towards El Jefe, and grabbed him by his mask, dragging him to the corner. There, Ushio would stomp the everloving crap out of El Jefe’s face. As it looked to be that Ushio was done, Ushio picked up the Luchador, and started ripping into his mask. Ushio then threw El Jefe onto the mat, as Ushio hit him with his signature Muay Thai Knees. El Jefe, bloodied and his mask ripped, laid lifeless underneath Ushio.

I thought he went through surgery and wears a mask to hide it.

i mean, he wore a mask before the car crash in season 3...
he was always a mexican luchador..... Just that he had to wear a new mask after the surgery to hide his scars.
but what really happened was i had too many caws, so dashing deleted him and said he died in a car crash....year later he said on a stream that i could bring him back.....so i just worked the angle of the car crash into a storyline.

And that makes more sense, being that it'd hurt Jefe tearing the mask because it's like, melted/burnt onto him. Like a Darth Vader losing his mask situation.
