CMV Exclusive: Rubik's challenge
A new exclusive video pops up on CMV.com just a a few hours before Genesis #96 is set to to start. In it we see Mac Thompson walking backstage followed by a cameraman. The interviewer seems to be tracking some faint noises, a man can be heard counting and clapping in the distance. Mac turns a corner to see a ladder propped up in a little cubby which is out of the way of everything else. Positioned upside down on the ladder with his legs wrapped around the top rung is the CMV Light Heavyweight champion, Rubik. The Brazilian notices Mac coming but doesn’t pay much attention, instead using the ladder and his legs to do pull-ups, clapping as he gets fully upright before letting himself fall back down.
Mac Thompson
Excuse me Rubik, do you have a minute for a quick interview?
Without stopping, Rubik answers...
Rubik
How quick?
Mac Thompson
It won’t be long at all, I just wanted to ask you about your match last week with Jay Davis and possibly what’s next for the Light Heavyweight championship?
Rubik
Fine.
Rubik lets out a heavy sigh and fully pulls himself upright one last time and sits comfortably atop the ladder.
Rubik
He’s a strange guy isn’t he? Jay I mean. He surrounds himself with all this help and never really seems to have a clear idea of exactly which path he’s on. Who does he like? Who does he not like? Is he below the level where his talent would suggest he should be or is he in way over his head? I don’t know and to tell the truth, I don’t care much at all. All I know is when I see Jay, no matter what anyone else thinks of him, I see determination. I like that. He doesn’t do himself any favours making all these enemies but at least he’s trying to make things happen for himself and that’s what I like to see. It’s why I had no problems with facing him last week. I expected a tough fight and wanted to see for myself if he was ready to move up to the next level or not. I think it’s perfectly clear to everyone that a tough fight is exactly what I got, it’s just a pity he didn’t want to do it in the ring. Regardless I think he showed that he is indeed ready for the next level. I know he has a tough match out there later tonight and I’ll be watching that to see how it goes and then, if he’s done with Marcantel and stops making new enemies, I have no problems giving him a shot at my championship, a shot I feel he deserves. After all with Maverick taking his ball and going home, I’m left without a challenger. However if Jay chooses to accept, I think we need a little something extra in place to make sure it doesn’t just descend into what our match was last week. An added stipulation if you will and well…
Rubik looks down and slaps the ladder he’s sitting on.
Rubik
I think I just might have one in mind. Now if that was everything Mac, I’d like a little space please.
Rubik once again tucks his feet between the rungs and lowers himself back down, going back to his pull-ups and starting the count all over again. The video ends with Mac and the cameraman turning and walking away for the Brazilian superstar.
