A Slippery Slope

Backstage after the show on Genesis, we see one half of the tag team champions, Reece Ortiz looking over the promotional poster for Validation, a look of distress on his face, he shakes his head and sighs, just as his tag partner, Josh Wolf walks up to him.

Josh Wolf
There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you.

Reece Ortiz
You mean like I was looking everywhere for you in the ring?

Josh Wolf
What do you mean by that?

Reece Ortiz
I mean that I basically fought Luger and Borton alone, you didn't even try to sacve me from the pinfall...

Josh Wolf
Look, I'm sorry, I just had a bit of a turn, my head was killing me after that attack, I tried to put it aside but I didn't want to risk an injury.

Reece Ortiz
But it's fine for me to get injured further?

Josh Wolf
I didn't say that... What's wrong with you?

Reece Ortiz
Nothing, I'm fine, it's just...

Ortiz stares down at the poster in his hands.

Josh Wolf
What's that?

Wolf snatches the poster out of Ortiz's hands.



Josh Wolf
The Validation poster? What's the big deal?

Reece Ortiz
I was looking at it after our match earlier and it just brought everything into perspective for me.

Josh Wolf
What do you mean?

An irritated Ortiz lets out a sigh

Reece Ortiz
I mean this year started off so great for me. I head a new relationship, I won the tag team championships, in the second tournament of my career, and I had such high hopes for the King of the RIng, but I don't even think I can stand here and say that I've earnt my place because everything has just fallen apart over the past month,.

Josh Wolf
It's hardly fallen apart Reece..

Reece Ortiz
I lost my second chance at the Alpha World Championship after falling for the cheapest trick in the book. Not even twenty four hours later, I cemented my downfall by losing to the international champion, and allowing him to beat the crap out of me afterwards. Last week, I let two idiots beat me up with a pipe, and now I have to wear this stupid patch for four weeks, and to top it all off, my divorce papers finally came through, and Xander has just been giving me the cold shoulder.  Does that sound like someone who should be representing his brand at the biggest show of the year to you?

Josh is a bit taken aback by Reece's outburst.

Reece Ortiz
I didn't think so...

Reece turns to leave, Wolf tries to stop him, grabbing him by the shoulder, but Reece shruggs him off and walks away.

Wolf tries to process what just happened, and as he looks off into the distance, someone walks up behind him.

???
Don't bother trying to figure him out, I never could.

Wolf hears a familiar voice and turns to see... Reece's EX Husband standing before him.

Look, I'm not sticking around, but I could hear his screeching and I just had to come and warn you, stay away from Reece, he has this aura around him that just drains the life from everyone in the room, and trust me, you just don't need that kind of negativity in your life. He's a mess, and if you stick with him...

Adam looks at the poster, and at the championship around Pat's waist.

Adam Scott
You'll never get to be  'the guy' again.

Adam turns and walks off back the way he came, leaving Wolf with no idea what to think.
