It's hard to say, really, whether he knows something that we don't or not. Quantum is often an unreliable narrarator, and has always been so. But his actions also don't reflect his narration sometimes. He, as any good heel, always has a hidden agenda but, as the hero, he won't ever allow you to be exposed to it.
