Elijah's Training

Elijah Stewart backs up into the corner. He looks to the middle of the ring, then he looks up. The arena is empty. Battle Scars is just hours away. Elijah crouches down while still staring at that contract that hangs just far enough from the ladder, but not too far out of reach. It's not the climb that is the obstacle. It's the three guys who want the same thing as him. It's a year of grinding and trying to fit into that place where heroes rarely succeed. All Elijah wants is to fit into the role, of a hero that he never had.

He pulls up his hood and starts his music..

...changing his stance, leaning forward, while holding onto the ropes near the turnbuckle. A buzzer goes off and jumps up the ladder. Elijah reaches the top with two leaps. When he gets to the top he deliberately rocks the ladder. He makes sure to land on his feet when it comes down. He stumbles though. Elijah sets the ladder back up and runs up the rungs of the ladder. This time a bit faster. Instead when he reaches the top he leaps over the top to the other side. He climbs back up and does it again. He repeats for a good minute until he gets fatigued. Even out of breath, Elijah pushed down the ladder and runs off the ropes. Picking up speed, he jumps over the top rope, landing on the ring apron. He springs off the ropes back into the ring, where he lands in a superman type pose. Elijah smiles, and looks back to the top.

He's sweating bullets and takes a quick rest in the corner. Elijah takes a deep inhale through his nose then lets it out with an exhale. There's a pause. Elijah closes his eyes and takes his time up the ladder. He gets to the top and pulls down the briefcase and looks around at the empty arena. Elijah hooks the case back up. When climbing back down the ladder, Elijah brings the ladder back under the ring.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Elijah lays in the middle of the ring. The emotions and thoughts catch up to him. Peace, exhaustion , nervousness , and fear. But most of all, confidence. While laying back and enjoying this free time, he smiles again while closing his eyes.
