Those are the squash match sliders. If you go to the settings and flip the "Squash Match" slider all the way to 0 it won't happen anymore.

I think it was Gumble who said Squash Matches are based on Overalls. So when the deficit is really big between two Superstars, Squash Matches are more likely to occur.
