An Unexpected Valentine

The scene opens up with the beeping of medical equipment heard faintly in the background. The beeping is soon drowned out by the sounds of footsteps echoing down a corridor. The camera pans around to see that the figure is none other than Cole Savage, dressed fantastically as usual in a three-piece suit that was undoubtedly hand-sewn by the most gentle of fingers.

He has a smile on his face, though his eyes remain hidden behind his signature sunglasses. In his hands are a bouquet of bright red roses. He turns a corner and enters a room, perhaps he’s here to visit his old client Omega Lee?

He takes a seat in his chair, on the other side of the drawn curtain and sighs deeply.

Such a shame, such a shame, such a shame.

The fact that this happened to you, was a travesty, a true stain on the history of this already seedy company. I’ve seen the best be denied their right to become legends because it was said that they didn’t fit of mold of what a star should be.

A pity, right?

But I’m not the kind of fellow, who doesn’t fight back, and I know for a fact that the same desire to lash out at all who have done you wrong. Especially the ones that put you here.

Savage looks around the room and pulls off his glasses. It looks like he’s actually about to shed a tear.

Just look at this room. Is this what passes for a hispital these days? Where’s the flat screen TV? Where’s the fireplace? Where’s the personal entertainment? Someone like you deserves better. The best.

And that’s where I come in.

The world has already started to forget about you. Feels familiar, right? But I’ve seen what you can do, and I’ve pictured where you could go. So I refuse to let this be the way you go out. What happened to you can’t be the last thing these people ever see of you. That can’t be the legacy that you leave behind.

Cole Savage turns the roses over in his hands and rises from the chair, pacing back and forth in the room.

It’s Valentine’s day for crying out loud! And here you are all alone in this dump, and if that machine stopped beeping right now, I bet nobody would give a damn.

But you’re strong, and you’ll come back and that’s what they’re afraid of. That’s why they tried to get rid of you. That’s why I’m here.

They won’t pull that kind of tomfoolery ever again with me at your side.

Savage walks around the curtain and places the roses on the bed.

Get well soon.

We have a company to take over.

Savage turns and walks away. The camera moves down to reveal Megan Cooper in the lying there unconscious. The screen fades to black to the sound of the beeping machines.
