Moo Moo Man to the Rescue (CMV.com Exclusive!)
The rebound edition of Thursday night Genesis this week produced quite a few upsets that had fans jaw-dropped, including El Jefe's recapture of the CMV Light Heavyweight championship, Jay Davis' rather quick dissection of Pierre Thompson, RISE's all or nothing victory over Kaiva and Bob Luger, and Brett Angel just deciding to not show up for his scheduled bout. But more than even all of that, after what was an aggressive battle to all but actually claim the number one contendership for the CMV World Tag Team titles, it was Zack Cage and Nick Blake that stood tall, handing The Family their first loss since reforming two months ago. Following the bell, both DJ Moore and Elijah Stewart, decided that they weren't all too content with this blemish on their resume, confronting their opponents and getting into an inaudible exchange that soon became heated. With Cage and his "friend" proving to be a formidable alliance as of late, taking down the champs themselves, Extreme Conditions, two weeks ago and now their win here tonight, the duo didn't back down from the former title holders, prompting a post-match brawl to erupt, Zack colliding with Big Bad and The Good Vibes Kid tangling with the former Mr. Money in the Bank in Blake. The teams went back and forth with kicks and punches, Stewart and Nick taking their fight to the outside areas while Cage and Moore fell to the mat, taking turns trying to lock-in holds on one another. This went on for only a few moments longer until general manager, Dave Turner, came out onto the stage, a squad of referees behind him who rushed down the ramp and to the announce table area to separate these four superstars. Turner told his men to cool it and save themselves for next week, where he set a rematch between them except for the addition of an elimination element (in the spirit of Cause & Effect) and announcing that the winners of that bout would be named the official number one contenders.
Following a downright surprising win over Pierre Thompson on this past Genesis, handing him his quickest loss since his encounter with Xander Slate at King of the Ring (38 seconds, cough) The Rebel, Jay Davis, decided that this simply wasn't a strong enough message sent. We already knew about the beef that Davis had with Primetime heading into this bout, and Jay had reiterated it beforehand, but on a mission to make sure that he's not taken lightly in the Deadly Games tournament at Cause & Effect, the brash and cocky youngblood grabbed himself that age-old score-settler, the steel chair, and went to town then back again on the Laker's Lover. The onslaught was only halted when the good guy supreme himself, ole Timmy boy, rushed down the ramp and scared Jay off, sending him hightailing it through the crowd and to the nearest exit. LaFave checked on Thompson who was motionless in the middle of the ring, signaling for some medical support as the show went to a commercial break.
Dave Turner had given RISE a kick in the balls at the top of Thursday night Genesis this week, after their voice in Sean Silva went to the head honcho looking to complain about their exclusion from the Deadly Games tournament. Turner told him that they did not deserve even a hint of a World title opportunity, referencing the fact that they've done nothing but jump people and outnumber them, and when the playing field is evened, they can't stack up. The Hall of Famer even went so far as to threaten their jobs if they couldn't win their match that night, a tag bout against International champion, Kaiva, and Alpha World champion, Bob Luger. This "pep" talk, if you can really call it that, actually seemed to work to, as RISE not only won, but Vachon managed to make Kaiva submit, handing the Latvian his first lose in over two months. This of course was far from sufficient in the minds of Silva and his minion, it's in their playbook to take every cheap shot presented to them, and so when Luger turned his back to check on Kaiva, RISE struck with steel chairs in hand. They disposed of Bobby and then focused their attack- or rather, were GOING to focus their attack on the International champ, but who other than The Moo Moo Man himself, Randy Borton, would come in for the save.
With just days until he and Kaiva's match for the belt on the 300th edition of CMV, it was clear that the King of the Ring wanted to keep his future opponent nice and healthy so that their was no doubt in anyone's mind that he would emerge victorious because of his own ability.
Borton defended his downed coworker, making sure that RISE wouldn't attempt a counter-attack, watching them with a steel chair in hand as they retreated, Genesis coming to a close.
