The shot opens up in an empty locker room area, inhabited only by the failed challenger for the Light Heavyweight Championship, Shane Scott. Dressed in black, weathered jeans and a loose fitting Pride & Filth tank top, the only sign of seeing battle a cotton-white bandaged taped across his forehead. Seated in a folded steel chair, Shane grasps his phone in one hand and a beer bottle in the other, his eyes scanning the screen of his device as he sips composedly. He glances up and notices the camera, taking a second to pound the rest of the drink and tosses it to the ground, the bottle crashing into the several others at his feet. He raises his hand to the camera, twirling his fingers with a come-hither motion.

“All of the world is watching, questioning what happened out there tonight. How did Filth lose to Jay Davis? Why, oh why? What happens next?”

Shane pulls his hands into tight fists, the cartilage in his knuckles cracking loudly. The corner of his right eye moves slightly, a tic so small and concealed, only careful observers could notice it. Releasing his vised hands, he lets out a tiny, blithe sigh.

Shane Scott
“I'll let you take a little looksie in my crystal balls, how about that? I see the past, I see the future. I see what happened out there tonight, and I see what will happen a year from now. Let me paint you a picture.”

Scott waves his hands in a circle, his hands tracing over the shape of an invisible globe as he shuts his eyes. Smirking, he rolls his head around making small ohms and ahs, his serpent like tongue sliding over his lips. With a snort, his eyes flick open, lips twisting into a ghostly grin.

“I'm exactly where I should be: headlining these shows. My face plastered across posters and billboards, my name synonymous with the greats of CMV. And I see Jay Davis toiling below everyone else, desperately clawing for anything that will make him seem important. His delusions of grandeur, his disgusting sense of worth, and his ignorance to his true, miniscule value will all contribute to the hole he's been digging for himself here. I’ll address that directly. People don't like you, Jay. The people backstage can't stand you, but much more importantly, we don't respect you. We don't look at you and see a worthy adversary; we look at you and see a mewling burnout has-been-never-was in his infancy. When I'm on top of the world, on top of the card, on top of your wife, you'll be pedaling your cheap merchandise in high school gyms, charging five bucks a pop for a picture to try and make ends meet. Guys like you have no business here, and everyone knows it. I know it, the suits know it, and the fans know it. Your fantasies of roaring crowds and admiring eyes are juicy little dreams and nothing more.

I've spent enough of my month tearing you apart piece by stinking piece; I decimated you in the ring, I destroyed you on the mic, and I blew your wife away in the sack. I can't deny that you bested me tonight, Baby Jay, but let me repeat what I've been saying all along: I had no vested interest in that dollar store toy of a belt you'd cry over. I didn't desire it: my aspirations are much higher. The way you flopped around on that grunt championship speaks volumes for your career trajectory in and of itself. This is where you will remain for the entirety of your life, hoping that maybe one day if you suck up and brown-nose hard enough, maybe, just maybe, you'll get yours handed to you. But that ain't how it works, buddy. This little shtick of yours? The age old song and dance of blowing smoke in a vain attempt to mask that fragile ego of yours is telegraphed by all with any sort of mind. Nobody takes your spiel seriously. To be quite frank, to see someone so absorbed with acceptance, that’s looked upon quite pitifully in this industry. And that's why I'll tell you right now I have no yearning to step into the ring with you again. This was my favor to you, Jay, my attempt to bring whatever piece of true wrestling spirit you had in you out. You beat me, bud, you did. But your snivels and bleats ring out in the ears of all around, all the same. You're bland, you're white bread. You're a lackluster, uninspiring trite excuse for a wrestler, and another match against you would serve no purpose in propelling either of our careers. For you, because you truly have nothing to offer. For me, because you truly have nothing to offer. You’ve proved that once and for all.”

Shane kicks his feet out, using the momentum to pull himself to his feet. He yawns, raising his right hand to pull his unkempt hair up and across his forehead, allowing it to settle in it’s usual form.

“I'll leave it at this, Jay. A loss tonight was not a good thing, that much is for certain. But leading the career that you are bound to, a nothing nobody who will never be looked upon with reverence or clout? A pathetic, abject flop with no teeth, muscle, or lasting name in this industry? That's far worse. You came out with the W, but I’ll come out with the G: Glory.”

With that, the shot fades to black as Jacob Ziegler enters the room, Shane welcoming him with a fist bump.
