? About the walking dead

Wasn't the point why they call them Walkers/Biters/Dead/Crawlers/Etc. Is because the word Zombie ain't in the universe?

I have to read volume one and two of the comics for my ENG 200 and within the first 40 pages zombies is mentioned twice... Also the more in the Walking Dead is really simple.

That's what I heard two, but Glenn says it twice in the first volume of the comics. This is why I am confused

In the comics early on he used tge word zombie, hd botched...because he also stated zombies arent a thing in TWD universe.

Zombie is still a word, just like biter or walker. The reason not everyone calls them that is because the zombie genre doesn't exist in TWD Universe, and without pop culture establishing this "title" for them, they come up with their own.

It comes down to vernacular and jargon.

Here’s how Kirkman explained having a zombie show without any mention of zombies.

“We decided very early on that there’s a lot zombie fiction out there, there’s a lot of zombie movies, and that leads to a lot of questions. Why are these characters never going ‘oh yeah, you gotta shoot them in the head, because I saw that on Night of the Living Dead‘,” he said. “And so we decided if we just strip that word out, and have this show set in a dimension where zombie movies just didn’t exist, it would kind of make things a little more believable.”

It makes sense that Kirkman wanted The Walking Dead to not be beholden to classic zombie films. By avoiding the Z-word, the show carved out its own niche. We don’t care what the show calls them, as long as they never get ahold of Daryl.
