The skars we leave behind

The Lost Souls make the long trek up the ramp another a tough loss to the reigning tag team champions. Legendary CMV interviewer Guy. waits for them on the stage.

Guy.:
Thank you both for joining me tonight, though I’m sure you two wish it were under more pleasant circumstances. Still, Kurasuke, welcome back to Fusion after an extended absence from this side of CMV. Believe it or not, you’re one of the longest tenured members in all of CMV, and not since the Might Cats have we seen you compete as part of a tag team. As you found out tonight, the tag team division has never been more competitive. What do you think will be different for you this time around?

Kurasuke takes a step toward Guy. an unsettling aura surrounding him. The traverser of portals leans close to the mic, the crowd falling into a silence eagerly awaiting to hear what he has to say.

Don’t lose faith in the ashes.

Guy. stands there expectantly, not realizing until Kurasuke stepped away that the answer had been delivered loud and clear.

Guy.:
Ooookay. Thanks for that, really...thought provoking let’s call it. What about you, Sage? You’re new around here, skipping NGW entirely, as a matter of fact. Tell the CMV Universe a little bit about yourself.

Sage Autumn looks down at Guy. but doesn’t respond. Guy. even tries to be helpful by moving the microphone a little closer to Autumn's mouth. However, the rookie doesn’t even open his mouth to try and speak.

???
Even if he wanted to respond...he can’t!

The arena is filled with thunderous cheers when the crowd realizes who that voice belongs to. It’s her! It’s really her! She’s here, and the crowd is on their feet!

Skarzemis
So I’ll do the talking for him!

Skarzemis skips over to Guy. and politely slides the microphone out of his hand.

Skarzemis
Story time! It all began with a laugh. A...last laugh, if you will. Ha ha ha! Something like that. See, that’s where Brandon Rayne went to give in to his demons. Those demons followed him here to Fusion. Those demons broke him. It was so, so sad.

For something “so, so sad” her tone is incredibly upbeat in contrast.

Skarzemis
With his dying breaths, he swore to bring the whole world down with him. And, boy did he ever come close to doing it! Night after night! Victim after victim! So many people wanted to take the initiative: one match, one win, one first-class ticket straight to Fusion past NGW. Unfortunately, the obstacle in their path was Brandon Rayne, and he didn’t want to play nice. Poor Sage here was one of those hopefuls who became a victim. Oh, Sage….or as I like to call him: Misery!

She laughs and pokes Autumn on the side playfully.

Skarzemis
Why? Because he has every right to be miserable and angry at a world that fostered a monster like Brandon Rayne and let him run free. POW! A flying forearm to the face. Now Misery can’t see. BAM! A stomp to the throat. Now Misery can’t speak. Misery lost so much, but look at him--

Skarzemis uses her index and middle finger to push the corner of Autumn’s mouth into a smile.

Skarzemis
Look at that smile. It’s so pretty isn’t it? He gets to smile cause he got his wish! He got his first-class ticket to Fusion! Brandon Rayne tried to end Misery’s career! His life! Except now there’s nobody happier to be alive than--

A crushing forearm drops Skarzemis where she stood.

It takes a while for the people to register what they just saw, even harder to comprehend what they’re seeing now.

Kurasuke standing over Skarzemis’ motionless body.

He squats down, granting himself a closer view of his handiwork. The blow to the head was delivered with such force that her mask is cracked.

You’ve outlived your purpose.

He peels Skarzemis off the ground, and pulls her in what seems to be an embrace for several seconds.

Kurasuke unceremoniously tosses her into a portal, the masked woman disappearing beyond the light.
