Still Alive

It’s her.

There’s no pomp and circumstance, no ceremony, not even a note from her theme music--only Tailcoat Val gingerly walking onto the Supremacy stage. And it’s a sight that looks wrong; starting with the lack of a tailcoat. She’s just in pants and a shirt--bandages bulge from under that shirt, and there are bruises, cuts and welts visible on her arms. There are also wounds on her face, and they unintentionally help make her expression more menacing.

When will you learn that this will only end when I say it’s over.

She doesn’t pose it as a question. She sneers, and her voice trembles with emotion.

You’ve taken what little I had left...whoever you are.

Know that anonymity is only a temporary solace, because I will find you, and I will gut you.

Val looks down at her open palm.

I may have been left empty handed now...

She curls that hand into a fist.

But I am not helpless.
