Breathtaking is truly the only word that comes to mind when I think about CMV's most recent pay-per-view, Regicide. It was a night that saw some dreams come to fruition, some crushed and brought to an end and some just begin. If you missed the live stream, it's as always available via playback on YouTube, but if you would prefer a quicker recap of the night's events and my personal take on them, then you've come to the right place. So let's get started!

Match #1
Jon Reed vs. Andrew Briggs
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
As voted by the CMV universe for Regicide's bonus match, these two Genesis youngbloods put on a quick but fun performance. Andrew Briggs seemed to have the early advantage but that quickly faded and Jon Reed took control, nailing Briggs with The Fall, but it wasn't enough to get the job done. However, after countering Andrew's Shining Wizard attempt, Reed was able to pullout another one, sealing the deal and bringing him a much needed victory.

Match #2
Fusion Tag Team Title Turmoil match
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
A fast paced match-up with a lot of shock upsets and some big spots throughout. Out first was the backwoods pairing of Bobby Sherman and Will Williamson, The Hooligans, and they started things off against the champions, REAL #1 Bubbas, certainly not a very advantageous spot for them as this meant they'd have to defeat five other teams in order to keep their gold. This was, in my opinion, the best match-up of the turmoil, featuring a wicked overhead belly to belly suplex from Son of Sheik to Bobby Sherman, which sent him over the top rope and all the way down to the outside. The champs would grab the win after SOS hit a military press slam onto Double W and got the three-count. Out next would come Hotline Miami, who nearly captured the Tag Team gold two weeks prior at Dark Carnival, but many including myself felt as though they were screwed over when the referee in that match refused to count a pin that surely would have been gotten the three-count. Either way, they had another chance here tonight, and after taking REAL #1 Bubbas to the limit once again, they unfortunately fell short after Andoni caught Eli Richards with his nasty spinning heel kick. Two teams down, three to go, but the champions were visibly drained, leaving them as easy targets for the next team to enter, the mountainous duo of Bludgeon and Trauma, Desolation. The two monsters tore Shanaz and Sheik apart, eliminating them rather quickly after Trauma hit Andoni with a second spine-crunching back-breaker. This meant that we were guaranteed brand new Fusion Tag Team champions, as down the ramp came Azreal and Sean Kent of Fatal Decision, most definitely not pumped to face Desolation, but realizing the opportunity at hand. This encounter was much slower than the other matches in the turmoil, seeing Fatal Decision take a very technical approach to dealing with Bludgeon and Trauma, and the game plan actually worked, as Azreal would end up locking in his devastating Boa Constrictor submission hold for the second time on Trauma, forcing the big man to tap out, a huge upset no doubt. And then there were two, The New Gods having the pristine advantage of entering last thanks to a non-title victory over the champs a few weeks ago. And this, to many others, was an instant classic, and it was for sure a great contest, both teams giving it their absolute all to walk away with the gold, but in the end it would be Azreal, once against employing that Boa Constrictor, to force Sebastian Frost to submit, making Fatal Decision the new Fusion Tag Team champions!

Match #3
Jimmaurie Williams vs. Schmidty (c)
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
Easily one of the best singles matches of the night, Jimmaurie Williams had his first shot at championship gold in nearly a year as he challenged Schmidty for the CMV United States championship. We all knew that whether or not the self-proclaimed "Greatest Professional Wrestler on the Planet Today" was victorious in this bout, he'd be involved in the main event later on in the evening for a shot at the Undisputed title. And perhaps the plan in mind for Schmidty in this match was to make it seem as though J-Dub was in control for the better part of it so as to not exert too much energy, as that's exactly what happened, Jimmaurie dominated. He hit two spears on the champ but it wasn't enough, and then just as it looked like he could finish things off, Schmidty struck with some Old School Schmidty, securing the win and retaining his title.

Match #4
Ryan Kent vs. Zack Cage
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
Being former tag team partners and having faced off one on one before, Ryan Kent and Zack Cage, went into this one knowing each other very well. And it showed, as the two put on a very technical performance, Zack looking the best that he has in-ring in months. But Kent was out to prove that Cage wasn't even on the level below him, getting more and more aggressive towards the end of the bout, hitting Zack with a Kent Clash and then with two more back to back but somehow the friend of Cole Savage survived, only to be hit by yet another one and be put down for the ref's three-count.

Match #5
Jay Davis vs. Marcantel
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
The mind games were strong with Marcantel in this one, attempting to get into Jay Davis' head in the weeks building up to their clash at Regicide. This match was nothing to write home about, both men getting in some offense and hitting their respective finishing moves, but it was Jay who would bring home the victory after a second dose of the GTS.

Match #6
Nikola Ivanovic vs. El Jefe (c)
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
After losing the CMV Light Heavyweight championship in a fatal-4-way match at Dark Carnival without even being involved in the decision, Nikola Ivanovic, almost immediately cashed-in his contractual rematch clause and told El Jefe quite bluntly that his time with the title wouldn't last long. And he was correct in that assertion, as after a fantastic strength versus speed collision, the Serbian reclaimed the belt by putting down The Human Fish with that thunderous Samoan Drop of his, proving that he never should have lost the title in the first place.

Match #7
Furious Frank vs. Tim LaFave
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
It was a long time coming for Furious Frank and Tim LaFave, as after Timmy Boy battled back from a career-threatening neck injury thanks to The Alpha Male, the two looked to finally settle their beef at Regicide. This was LaFave's first singles bout in nearly five months, he had fought just a few days prior on Genesis in a tag team steel cage match, but this was different, he was alone against his most bitter rival, and this was his chance to prove that he wasn't only back, but better than ever. And prove that he did, as ole Tim whopped Frank for most of the match, countering Route 66 twice and then putting the final nail in the coffin by planting his foe with a second Cony Island Cyclone, perhaps the most aggressive one that he's ever hit.

Match #8
Rhys Matthews vs. Jaquan Shay
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
Very reminiscent of his battle against Jimmaurie Williams just six days before on Monday night Fusion, The Total Package, Rhys Matthews, had to throw every single thing in his arsenal at JS to make him stay down, but unlike against J-Dub, it actually worked this time, Matthews grabbing the win yet again over his enemy.

Match #9
The United Kingdom vs. Extreme Conditions (c)
Like a Star @ heaven
It's not that this World Tag Team title match was bad, but it's length has dragged it's rating down quite a bit, the two teams putting on one of the longest matches of the night. All four superstars refused to stay down, pulling out all the stops to go home with the gold, and in the end it'd be Eric Thunder and Matt Jefferson once again fending off their challengers to remain atop the tag team division on Thursday nights.

Match #10
Bannon vs. Sam Valentine vs. Chris Andrews (c)
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
Who doesn't love a good ladder match? And a good ladder match this was, as The Bloody Brit defended his CMV Anarchy title against foes Bannon and Sam Valentine. It was short but it was also sweet, bitter sweet that is, as The Cure would climb up to the top of the ladder and yank down the gold, tasting his first reign as a champion in CMV.

Match #11
Randy Borton vs. Brett Angel
Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven  Like a Star @ heaven
No words can possibly describe this match. Fucking watch it.

Match #12
Duke Briggs vs. Kaiva (c)
Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven
Another decent match-up as Big Duke Briggs had his first shot at singles gold, taking on Kaiva for the CMV International championship. It was only two weeks beforehand that the Latvian captured the title inside of the Elimination Chamber, but he managed to use all of the momentum behind him to blast passed Briggs and remain the champ, building up quite the streak as he now prepares to defend against Randy Borton in two weeks at the 300th episode of CMV.

Match #13
Bison vs. Bob Luger (c)
Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven
One of the biggest shockers of the night if you ask me, saw Bob Luger retain his Alpha World championship against The Barbarian, Bison. It certainly was no easy task though, The OG Beast of CMV giving The Work Ethic Titan a run for his money and nearly defeating him after a sudden Bison Bomb about midway through the contest. Luger stood strong and eventually persevered, when he nailed his challenger with a second taste of the Luger Landing, cementing his reign as a legitimate World champion and becoming the only Alpha World title holder thus far to successfully retain the belt.

Match #14
Xander Slate vs. Schmidty vs. Paul Divine vs. JustIN Sane (c)
Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven
Eight months held, six title defenses and in his fourth reign, JustIN Sane, has gone down as the greatest CMV World champion to date, and in the minds of many, is the greatest CMV superstar to date as well. He was up against stiff odds in the main event of Regicide, but he went out there anyways to do what he does best; kick some motha fucking ass! And do that he most certainly did, taking it to all four of his challengers in the OG Dirty Heel, Xander Slate, the CMV United States champion, Schmidty, and The Asian Sensation, Paul Divine. This was actually a very good match for a fatal-4-way, which we know can end abruptly and see someone sneak out a win in a moments notice. Every single man got some offense in, every single man was willing to do whatever it took to become the king of CMV, but only one of them could do that on this night, and one of them did, Paul Divine. Catching Schmidty with a Catchphrase in the middle of the ring whilst Slate and Sane were busy battling it out on the outside, Japan's Biggest Export got the one, two, three, putting the cherry on top for nearly four years of busting his ass to prove that he was good enough. And while he didn't pin the champion to earn the gold, JustIN Sane, showed him the up-most respect by personally handing him the Undisputed CMV World championship, chants of "YOU DESERVE IT!" filling up the arena as with a tear in his eye, Divine accepted and thus begins the reign of The Rising Sun.
