EXT. HELL'S KITCHEN. DAY. ABOUT TO RAIN.

Pans over the street, showing the result of a gun fight.

Beat.

Bullet holes in the walls of a building.

Beat.

Blood is stained on the side walked.

Beat.

Cars horn fill the air as it starts to rain.

EXT. GRAVEYARD. DAY. RAINING.

There is two freshly dug graves side by side.

One of the gravestones read, Aiden O' Reilly, and the other one reads Charlie O' Reilly.

A crowd of Irish descendants of the people that the two O'Reilly brothers knew.

In the crowd, we see their father, SULLIVAN O'Reilly, a 46 year old Irish - American who has a cane in one of his hands, he has a long black drench coat on, with a black umbrella over his head. And their brothers, BRENDAN O'REILLY, a 19 year Irish American, he has a black suit on.

As the funeral comes to an end, the entire crowd rush towards their car.

Sullivan and Brendan lingers behind at the site of their family grave site.

SULLIVAN
(Irish accent)
This war between us and the
Italians needs to end. I've lost
my oldest son and my favorite son.

BRENDAN
(New York accent)
Dad, I stand by what

Long Beat.

BRENDAN CONT'D
But dad.

SULLIVAN
(angerly)
I said not now.

INT. BLACK SUV BACK SEATS. DAY RAINING.

Focus on Brendan sitting next to his father.

Cars pass by and the sound of traffic is faintly heard in

their SUV.

Long beat

BRENDAN
Dad, I don't want to be like you.
I don't want to be in your gang. I
don't want to run Hell's Kitchen.
I...
(Beat)
I just want to be me.

SULLIVAN
That's nice and all, but you see,
my brothers, you know, Sheamus and
Fergual. Yeah, well they and their
kids wants my throne. Their kids,
are out their, and they want
Hell's Kitchen for themselves. And
trust me if they are anything like
their old men, they will play
dirty. Its in your best interest
to play dirty, to be the son I
know you can be.

BRENDAN
Are you even listening to me dad.
I don't want that, I don't care
about any of this. Not New York,
Not Hell's Kitchen, Not the mob. I
just want to be me. And you never

care about me do you, dad.

SULLIVAN
Son, look I don't get why you want to get out

of the family business, even if you do get out, the
Italians will come for you. If they ever found out that

you left the family protection, they will hunt you down

and kill you and send me your head.

(Beat)

Son, you do know that you don't
get to this point in life by being
soft. You get to...

Brendan interrupts his father.

BRENDAN
And you don't end up dead like
Aiden and Charles if you go in
hard, right.

SULLIVAN
Fin. Pull the car over.

The driver of the car, that we dont see his face, but he pulls the car to the side walk.

SULLIVAN CONT'D
(angerly)
Get the fuck out of the car. Don't
talk about your brothers like
that.

BRENDAN
Dad, I didn't mean to be rude.

SULLIVAN
Get the Fuck out of the car.

Brendan opens the door and got out of the car.

SULLIVAN CONT'D
Come home when you learn how to
respect the dead.

BRENDAN
But the Italians.

SULLIVAN
You want out of the family
business, here you go. See how
long it takes you to crawl back
home.

Sullivan closes the door on Brendan as the SUV drives off.

EXT. HELL'S KITCHEN. NOON. RAINING.

Staring as it drives off.

BRENDAN
I show you dad. I show you. I show
you that I don't need to be apart
of this family to be happy.

The car turns at a corner heading out of view.

BRENDAN CONT'D
Shit...

Long Beat

Brendan begins to walk up the street.

VOICE OF SCREEN
Well...
(beat)
Well...
(beat)
Well...

Brendan turns around to see DAMIEN, a Irish American 20 year old.

DAMIEN
If it isn't my dear cousin
Brendan. See your pops just kicked
you to the curve. Hope everything
is okay between you two, seeing
that you brothers was just put 6
foot under this morning.

BRENDAN
Yeah, it should be fine, I just
told Pop that I want out of the
family business, and I kinda
crossed the lines and mentioned
how if I did what he wanted me to
do, I end up like Aiden and
Charles.

DAMIEN
Did your pop mention who he
thought killed your brothers by
chance?

BRENDAN
He said that the war with the
Italians need to end, so I guess
the Italian.

DAMIEN
Good, Pops was Right about
something for once.

BRENDAN
What was Uncle Sheamus right
about, the Italian?

DAMIEN
No.

Long beat.

Brendan stops and stairs at Damien.

DAMIEN CONT'D
That Uncle Sull, would think the
Italian killed your brothers.

Extremely Long Beat.

BRENDAN
(nervous)
Wait... The Italian didn't kill
Aiden and Charles.

DAMIEN
Tell me. You want out of the
family business? That right?

Brendan gulps.

BRENDAN
(nervous)
Ye... Yeah, me and pops just had a
little argument tho. I don't plan
on leaving the family business at
the moment man, I want to get his
approval to leave first.

DAMIEN
Don't worry about getting approval
from your old man, I help ya get
out of the family business.

Damien reaches into his pocket.

BRENDAN
We don't have to fight dude, were
cousin.

DAMIEN
Of course we don't, we are family,
cousin.
(beat)
But, you are in my way to the
throne.

Brendan takes a couple of steps backward.

BRENDAN
(more nervous)
We don't need to this man. You
don't need to kill me to get the
throne. I don't even want it. You
and Christian can fight over it, I
don't want nothing to do with the
family business.

DAMIEN
Wow, your nothing like your
brothers. They wanted the throne,
well until I put a bullet in their
head.

Damien pulls out a gun, but as he does, Brendan lunges and knock the weapon out of Damien hands.

Beat Brendan has the look of shock on his face

DAMIEN CONT'D
Well, I already killed two of
Uncle Sullivan's kids, might as
well kill the last one.

BRENDAN
I don't know why or how I lunged
forward Damien.

Damien throws a punch at Brendan.

Brendan steps back every time that Damien throws a punch.

Damien throws a punch, Brendan dodges and throws a punch, and hits Damien in the side of the temple.

BRENDAN (CONT'D)
(nervous)
I didn't mean to.

Wide Angle, with both Brendan and Damien facing each other

Damien throws more punches that Brendan keeps dodging.

Damien getting angry lets out a yell.

Damien charges at Brendan, who throws a right hook.

Camera on Damien as he falls to the ground.

Brendan slowly takes a few steps back keeping his eyes on Damien.

Damien starts to move.

Brendan starts to run down the street.

Damien rises to his feet, and pulls a switch blade out from his pocket and starts to chase after Brendan.

Brendan reaches an intersection in the road, and stops in his tracks waiting for traffic to stop. Damien is running after him and is 10 feet away from Brendan when traffic stops letting both of them cross the street.

Damien keeps switch blade closed and in his fist to keep it hidden from the citizens that are driving the car.

Brendan turns down an alley.

Damien runs past the alley.

Brendan pulls down the ladder to the fire escape to the apartment building connected to the alley.

The ladder makes loud noise as it comes down.

Brendan starts to climb when Damien appears at the end of the alley.

Brendan starts to climb faster.

As Brendan reaches the top, Damien is a few feet from the ladder.

Brendan tries to pull the ladder up, Damien has a hold of the bottom of the ladder.

Brendan starts to run up the steps.

Damien reaches the top of the ladder, and begins to chase after Brendan.

Camera pulls out to show Brendan is two floors above Damien and is closing in on the last floor.

Brendan starts to climb the ladder up to the roof.

Damien follows shortly after.

Brendan looks over the burrow known as Hell's Kitchen.

DAMIEN
(angry)
You choose a nice view to be your
last.

BRENDAN
(scared)
Do we really need to do this?

DAMIEN
Yes, I really need to kill you.

Damien charges Brendan, switch blade extended.

Brendan side steps Damien.

Before Damien turns around Brendan, grabs Damien's arm that has the knife on it, and twists it.

Damien drops the switch blade.

Brendan locks in a choke hold from behind.

Damien is struggling to breathe.

DAMIEN CONT'D
Just kill me

BRENDAN
I'm sorry cuz, I can't kill you.

Damien was losing oxygen as they both wobbled at the top of the building.

BRENDAN CONT'D
This is almost like the building
Charles and Aiden always go to
when we were younger.
(beat)
I don't want to kill you.

Brendan lets Damien go

Damien falls to the ground gasping for air.

Damien slowly stands up.

DAMIEN
We ain't done yet.

Damien throws a punch

Brendan sides steps and throws a right hook.

Damien falls to the ground knocked out.

Brendan climbs down the stairwell.

Walks onto the street to a phone booth.

Brendan puts a quarter into the machine and dials a number.

BRENDAN
Dad. I need to tell you this. It
wasn't the Italians that killed
Aiden and Charles.
(beat)
Dad shut up. It was Damien.
(beat)
He just told me.
(beat)
No. I didn't kill him.
(beat)
He on top of a building near the
place you kicked me out of the
car.
(beat)
(angrily)
I'm not coming back.
(beat)
Bye Dad.

Brendan aggressively slams the phone back onto the handle.

Brendan walks out of the booth and starts to head towards

Manhattan. The opposite direction that his father SUV turned.

Long Beat.
