The Weight of Sin

As Octane begins, Jason Spade is standing in the ring, microphone in hand. Spade waits for the mixed crowd reaction to settle down before he begins.

"Josh Wolf declared his intention to kill your heroes. Why? Who knows... Maybe to usher in a new world order here in CMV, maybe with a new role model to drive the future forward. Nobody knows but him. What I know, however, is that his first intended victim was yours truly... And well, I ain't dead."

Spade raises his arms to his sides, earning another mixed reaction. Spade continues.

"This season hasn't exactly been a glowing example of my best self. In fact, I'd say I've been as far removed from being a hero as one can get. Truthfully... I'm tired of being a hero. I'm tired of being strong, and fighting... But I will never stop. I will never quit. I will die between these ropes because it's what I do, what I breathe, what I eat and sleep, and what I live for. You can try all you want but no one can kill me. You can break my body, crush my bones, but my spirit will live on- if not through me then through the people who hear my voice. I will--"

Spade is cut off as the arena goes dark. A few moments pass until a video begins to play on the big screen; jumble static gives way to a single sentence.

"IS A WOUNDED WOLF THE TRUE DANGER IN YOUR LIFE?"

Images flash on the screen; a raging fire, a cracked eyeball, a bleeding rose, a flock of black birds taking to the sky. Unmarked gravestones crumble to dust and another sentence appears.

"CAN YOU ESCAPE THE WEIGHT OF YOUR SINS?"

The video ends and light returns to the arena, the final message burned onto everyone's mind. Spade simply stares in confusion as the scene fades to black.
